Shoeb Ahmad + Godriguez

TICKETS HERE

“one of Canberra’s most prolific experimental artists, curators and producers, and relentless advocate for the local independent, DIY and underground music scenes” New Weird Australia

Sia Ahmad has traversed many different musical landscapes over her 21 years of performing live and making records - improvisation, sound art, noise - but nothing binds her work together like the left-of-field songwriting she's pursued under her birth name Shoeb Ahmad. From glitchy pop ambience of Watch/Illuminate, the indie soul confessionals on "quiver" and the more recent trip-hop inspired soundclash heard on double checks against the corner, the ongoing explorations of song through distinct listening journeys comes together on this tour to not only celebrate becoming an "adult" in musical terms, but also the wonderful independent record stores that encourage the practice of listening to the physical medium, in person and at home.

"If it’s raining where you are, it’s about to get more beautiful with the sounds of Shoeb Ahmad” Lauren Laverne, BBC 6Music

Joining her for this performance at Franks is the wonderful Godriguez, connected to Sia through early days spent inhabiting the same jazz-adjacent circles back on Ngunnawal Country. The solo project of Australian-Spanish guitarist, producer, and composer David Rodriguez-Lovibond, Godriguez is known for weaving jazz, beat-making, and experimental textures into one cohesive sound, he’s carved a place as one of Australia’s most adventurous musical voices.
